The Wonderful World of Spaces on X

SPACES ON X

Hello my friends,

A newsletter on Spaces.

Listening and speaking on Spaces has been an incredibly enjoyable experience.

Spaces were not on my radar before October 2023 , but I’m delighted to be involved daily now. On Spaces the speakers have incredible knowledge on a huge range of topics. Their knowledge has inspired me to read subjects I wouldn’t have previously and challenged my thinking in some important areas of life. Deep-diving into what is motivation, the human brain, and the psychology of sound.

Below are notes from Spaces I have attended. I may have spoken or just listened but the notes below are my favourite parts. Each note below had a big impact on me, or they are my quotes that I believe can help:

  • Motivation is a value - Dr Heath

  • What is your relationship to material things around you? Some people see their phones as objects they use to scroll and post on social media and others see a phone as a way to listen to books/podcasts and create an income - Wise Philosophy

  • Most people with autism have to learn empathy. Almost 100% of high-functioning autistic people can learn empathy - Unknown

  • All of us are normal people. We all put our trousers on one leg at a time - Wise Philosophy

  • Learn to let go, people you’ve just met that dredge up negativity from their past are a drain on your energy - Unknown

  • Popular beliefs are the monsters under the bed that are only useful for frightening children - Wise Philosophy

  • Healthy to not care if you’re right or wrong.

  • Gap effects when studying. Take regular breaks so your brain can repeat what you have just learned. 5 minutes every 30 minutes because your brain will replay what you have been studying 10 to 60 times - unknown using Andrew Huberman as a source

  • Allow white space when you’re speaking. No need to fill in gaps with useless words - The Journey Man

  • If you don’t agree with someone’s thinking, either the result of their thinking or the hypothesis then learn about how they get to that point. Makes more sense to follow people you don’t agree with than one’s you do - Unknown

  • People have to have the ability to not listen to you - Dr Heath

  • So many geniuses died poor with mental health problems. Nicolai Tesla was poor and depressed when he died - Wise Philosophy

  • Sound has to have molecules to work. Vibrations in molecules create sound - Unknown

  • If you’re having problems and you move areas that will not help because you’re always there and the problem is probably you - Unknown

  • If you need encouragement to start a company then you probably shouldn’t do it - Elon Musk

  • People have religious beliefs based on where they are born and in what age. It’s down to luck. Born in ancient Greece you would have worshipped Zeus and the Gods - Unknown

  • Russia and China regularly practice joint military maneuvers - Elon Musk USA is no longer the superpower of the world - Elon Musk

A snapshot of the wonderful experience that is Spaces. If I am not engaged in a Space I leave.

If I am host or co-host I will ask questions if encountered by a vexatious speaker to stop them rambling.

The flexibility of Spaces is a huge part of the appeal. We now have Video Spaces to add a different dimension.  Hosting Spaces is going to be a huge part of my X experience going forward and a strong recommendation is that it should be for you too.

I adore you all ❤️

Tony
