Do You Value Motivation?
Motivation and Discipline
Happy Sunday All,
I am privileged to have been part of some incredible Spaces on X in the last 3 months. I am sharing and gaining knowledge in abundance.
We all want to improve ourselves, right?
As a side note please consider purchasing my eBook to help you with improving your whole life:
In the last month in a Space on motivation vs discipline, I debated with Dr Heath over the subject of motivation. A wonderful debate where we attacked the subject and not the person.
Spaces where there is disagreement and healthy debate are the best Spaces I have been in. The Space in question was a cracker!
So you want to go to the gym tomorrow morning. The plan is to wake at 6am to be in the gym before work. Your motivation in the gym is possibly to improve yourself mentally but definitely physically.
Discipline is doing things you don’t want to but doing them like you love it.
Discipline gets you out of bed for one week but then you start to roll over and stay in bed for an extra hour in the second week. Self-discipline is lacking but let’s consider the problem is your motivation.
So a nod of respect to Dr Heath on X for this different perspective.
What if you think of motivation as a value?
The reason you stop going to the gym is because you are not placing enough value on your health. So you raise your physical fitness to the most valuable part of your life. For example, it becomes of more value to you than small habits like watching TV, being in bed, several cups of coffee, and resting.
Or we can go further. More important than sleep, reading, breakfast, and other things you do in the morning rather than a gym visit.
Make physical fitness priceless to you. Add significant VALUE to your time in the gym.
Our health is a deficiency need.
We only truly value our health when we lose it in some way, either a bad cold or something more serious.
Look at motivation as a value and I am sure you will see a difference.
Have a go!
All the best,
Tony
