Happy Sunday,

Are you aware that if you sit and watch television and do no exercise at all you have more in common with the adult population than you realise.

If you exercise for an hour a week you are in the top 20% of the world.

If you exercise through a combination of weight training and cardio for 5 hours a week then you are now top 1% in the world.

Think about that. In what other field could you put yourself in the top 1% in the world just by making exercise a non-negotiable core value?

Exercise is an opportunity to prevent depression, negative mindset, and cloudy thinking and I could list endless ways exercise could prevent many things.

So, why is regular exercise so rare?

Motivation and discipline are rare commodities it seems.

To be in good shape takes discomfort. Lifting weights to failure, sweating after 20 minutes of mild cardio on the treadmill. It appears not many people want to do this but let's get anecdotal.

Monday morning is when you’re going to start your exercise regime. You’re nervous because it’s a new gym and you do not know what you’re doing. Prepare your gym bag or put out your gym clothes. Wake up, drink water, coffee, and a banana. Get dressed and go to the gym.

10 minutes on the treadmill and then a full-body workout with light weights.

40 minutes later you’re back home. Not so tough, nothing too taxing because it’s your first session. Mild aching the following day but you do it again.

You do this for a further three days out of the next five days and now for 1 week, you have completed 5 sessions. You’ll see no difference in your physique but this doesn’t matter because the changes to your body happen internally first. Visible changes take a long time.

Just by completing this first week, you are part of the 1% group and you can consider yourself an athlete.

After 1 week, what next? Maybe you have the funds for a personal trainer but you’ve pressed the curiosity button now. You’ll watch YouTube videos on workout sessions and educate yourself on effective training.

Repeat your 5 workouts week after week until you start seeing changes and positive comments start to flow your way.

Brain fog clears up.

You sleep better.

Your memory retention improves.

You clean up your diet and reduce alcohol consumption to make workouts better.

You are an athlete.

Get exercising now!
